Back to School

Mommy is itching to have her own classroom again.
Someday… Just not today!!
That’s what I keep telling myself.

So I’m living vicariously through my sister and my dad!

We spent a few days out in their classrooms
helping set things up for the fall!

First Foursome Dinner Out

Our first dinner out as a foursome was to Old Chicago.
That’s where Aunt Carol works.

Mercedes had to sit next to “my baby”.

When the Rapids game started,
Aunt Carol changed the channel near our table.

We played musical chairs so
Mercedes could watch the game and sit next to her sister.

Pool Time ~ What a FISH!!!

We started out swimming season off in March up in the mountains.

Spent most of the time in the “hot pool”.

But it was time in the pool none the less.

April was again up in hte mountains.

Mercedes was getting braver… kinda.

Still holding on for dear life,
but at least just to your fingers,
not cutting off circulation to your arms.

Memorial Day weekend the Pool opened up!

Mercedes stuck with the baby pool.

It was a good way to “offically” start our swim season.

June on the other hand is a WHOLE DIFFERENT story!

Aunt Carol got her into the big pool with the “floatie”.

She was ALL OVER that!!

Kickin’ and Splashin’

Havin’ a GRAND ‘OL time!

It got to a point where Mommy and Auntie
wanted to pull her out from under that floatie!

Mommy was nice and bought some water wings instead.
(Dollar Isle at Target is my FAVORITE!!)

We got a bigger floatie for Mommy too.
Well, Daddy too.

Dinner at the pool with Daddy is our favorite evening activity!

She sat in the big floatie for a bit…
then decided it was time to get out.

And the fish was born!!

Remember that little growth we all had attached to us back in April…

Not so much anymore!

She loves to swim from one side of the pool to the other.

She never wants to get out!

She plays Ariel and Flounder.

She pushes Mommy in the floatie.

She’s a FISH!!

Mountain Swimming

There is nothing like swimming in the cool mountain air!

My little fish LOVES the water!

She has her Gran’pa wrapped around her finger …

Gran’pa is like Mommy, no swimming unless it’s 80 degrees.

But she got Gran’pa to get in the pool … in the mountains!

She getting more and more comfortable in the water.

I’m exciting to see how much she’ll grow this summer!

I have LOTS of pool days planned …
let’s hope the weather holds up.

After swimming in the big pool …
we always go to warm up in the hot pool!

She’s gotten so comfortable …
that she put her feet on the bottom …
and let go of Auntie!!

Playground @ Gran’pa’s School

May is my least favorite month.

It’s busy … emotional … and just busy!

This May was no exception.

The end of a school year is hard.

Trying to wrap up everything that needs to be taught …

While trying not to get spring fever yourself …

as the kids are climbing the walls …

Anticipating a new year …

Saying goodbye to this one …

UGH!  May!

I helped my sister with some of her end of the school year projects.

Mercedes LOVED it because …

Well, she’s an extrovert and loves being around people.

And she got to play on the playground.

(Yes, that’s the Belle Dress).

Did you think I was kidding?!!?

She wore it everywhere!!

Anyway …

We hung out at Auntie and Gran’pa’s school a few times.

I took pictures of students …

Mercedes’ played …

I did put my foot down a few times …

and said the Belle Dress had to stay in the car …

It had become a distraction.

And May doesn’t need any help with distractions!!!

I guess I can’t totally hate May this year because …

I did get to capture these pictures!

Beauty & the Beast with Auntie

Back in May, Auntie’s school put on a production of Beauty and the Beast.

One Saturday, I needed an emergency place for Mercedes to hang out …
and she got to hang out at practice with Auntie.

Gran’ma and Gran’pa took her to a special preview night.

The little girls were encouraged to dress up …
They all recieved a light – up rose …
there was cupcakes and punch!

She even got to sit by Auntie at the director’s table for a bit.

Needless to say, my princess was in HEAVEN!!

You will see in future blog posts this yellow dress.

Mercedes’ cousins gave her their old dress up clothes.
Being a fourth grader and an eighth grader, they didn’t use them.

I went out and got a clothes rack for them,
because her princess dresses were TAKING OVER!  🙂

Mercedes’ has worn them EVERYWHERE!
Because I’m the kind of mom who lets her.
There are rules, however …
you must wear real clothes underneath …
(no showing off your boobies .. giggle, giggle).
And you may not wear them to school or church.

THANK YOU Katie and Maddie for being such great cousins!!
